Samsung buyers could soon wave goodbye to a free wireless charger and headphones.

Samsung is copying Apple again. The Galaxy S21 series reportedly will not come with a wall charger or a pair of headphones when the new top-tier handset debuts in January.

This despite Samsung mocking Apple in October for leaving these accessories out of the iPhone 12 box.

Galaxy S21, S21+ e S21 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra scored approval today from Agência Nacional De Telecomunicações, according to Tecnoblog. ANATEL is the Brazilian agency that must sign off on phones, and it supposedly leaked some details about Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone.

That includes the fact that none of the S21 series models will come with a wall charger or a headset.

No Samsung charger: A bit of hypocrisy, hmm?

Apple made headlines this autumn when it stopped including a wall chargers and headphones with the iPhone 12, as well as every handset sold through the Apple Store.

Archrival Samsung quickly made fun of the decision. It posted a Tweet with a picture of a power adapter and the note “Included with your Galaxy.”

Samsung disparaged Apple’s move to stop including a charger and headphone with every phone. And now it’s allegedly doing the same thing. Screenshot: Samsung

But it seems Samsung quickly came to regret its mockery, as the post has since been deleted. And now we apparently know why: because the Galaxy-maker is about to follow Apple’s lead.

Helping the environment

Lisa Jackson, Apple’s head of environmental initiatives, explained why her company stopping bundling wall chargers and headphones with every iPhone. “We are removing these items from the iPhone box, which reduces carbon emissions and avoids the mining and use of precious materials.” The change also makes the iPhone box smaller, reducing greenhouse gases needed to ship these products.

Samsung could well be imitating Apple’s move for the same reasons.

Apple has struggled hard to make iOS 12 available to its older iPhones and iPads while the company abandoned a number of new features to make the system more stable and faster than before. According to rumors, several devices might not be able to download the company’s next operating system update.

The Tech Giant is currently in the process of developing the next major update. iOS 13 will be presented for the first time at the company’s annual developer conference, the WWDC 2019, which will take place this June. According to previous years tradition, it is expected to be released to all users in September, along with the launch of the new iPhones.

However, before we even get a look at the Apple’s next major iOS 13 and its innovations and features that it will bring, According to The verifier, it is rumored that the company will reportedly drop support for several iPhones including iPads.

Here is the list of iPhones and iPads which will allegedly no longer be updatable

iPhones                          iPads                        iPod

iPhone 6s                    iPad Mini 2              iPod touch 6th generation
iPhone 6s Plus            iPad Mini 3
iPhone 6 Plus              iPad mini 4
iPhone SE                    iPad Air
iPhone 5s                    iPad Air 2

Well, this is not a short list, but these models are unfortunately not going to get support for iOS 13. The company will also limit the new features, some of which will not work on devices like iPhone 7, 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Moreover, according to rumors, the iPhone X also will not enjoy some of the new features to make as many customers upgrade to their latest iPhone models.

Of course, the new iPhones that will be launched in September will receive exclusive features on iOS 13.1, will be released in a first development version in October.

If you’re using an old iPhone iPad device and it’s in good shape, we’d suggest starting to save and even selling the older model that won’t get support iOS 13 updates, except for the security updates.

Gerard Williams III led the design of all Apple processors from the A7.

Apple’s senior director in platform architecture, Gerard Williams III, left the company last month after nine years, according to CNET. He might not be the most recognizable name from the tech giant, but he held a very important position for a company that’s making it a point to design more and more of its own components. Williams led the development of all Apple processors from the A7, which first appeared on the iPhone 5S, to the A12X that’s inside Cupertino’s latest iPad Pros.

As CNET noted, A7 was the first 64-bit processor for mobile devices. Its debut on the iPhone 5S forced Qualcomm to release a 64-bit mobile processor of its own — one that had big issues and wasn’t ready for primetime. In addition to leading the processor design process, William was also in charge of the layout on Apple’s systems-on-a-chip (SOCs) in recent years. In other words, he was the one who decided the placements of the SOCs’ components, such as the CPU, GPU and memory.

It’s unclear why Williams left Apple, and he’s also yet to update his LinkedIn page. He probably still had a hand in the development of the next few devices Apple will roll out, though, maybe even the first Macs powered by in-house processors — that is, if reports that Cupertino is dropping Intel for its own laptop chips are true, of course.

Apple’s official MFi Certified logo is regularly seen on many third-party accessory packages. The MFi certified logo covers the full range of iDevices accessories. It is an abbreviation for “Made for iPod, iPhone, and iPad”. MFi unblocks business opportunity for third-party accessory manufactures and forces them to ensure their products meet Apple’s standards. And the MFi certified accessories are recommended to be used with your iDevice. Today we are going to discuss about MFi certified lightning cables.

MFi Lightning Cables

The original 30-pin dock connector was superseded by the lightning connector in 2012. And the lightning connector is currently Apple’s proprietary connector for charging and data transmitting. A tiny authentication chip inside each lightning connector makes Apple MFI Certified easy to tell. Non-certified or knock-off lightning cables will harm your devices as a long run. These cables can often get extremely hot and at the same time as that might be the source of iDevices overheating.

Non-MFi Lightning Cables

Non-MFi Certified cables can be purchased from various resellers with a much less than a certified cable price. Predictably, cheaper is not always better. Many unqualified manufactures lead the market to confusion. According to Apple, non-MFi Certified cables are not subjected to industry-standard consumer safety testing and are poorly constructed with inferior or missing components, flawed design, and inadequate electrical insulation. These non-MFi certified cables have the potential to overheat, catch fire, and deliver a deadly electric shock to consumers while in normal use.

So many customers who have used non-MFi Cables had their logic board (the Motherboard) shorted by bad voltage delivery. Once a logic board has been shorted, the cost to repair becomes almost the same as a new device.

Verification

The iDevices will notify you if you are using a non-MFi cable with the message “This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work with you device.” When purchasing chargers or charge cables, make sure you are getting an Apple approved product with MFi logo.

An Apple support document that pointed people to the page was updated on Jan. 24 to remove any reference, and the direct link has stopped working in the past day. The status system let users enter an IMEI or serial number.

The updated support document suggests that people buying a device test Activation Lock hands-on, and have the seller help (in person or otherwise) if it’s still in effect. In many cases this is impractical, such as when buying online from someone in another city.

The change could potentially help the black market or even increase thefts, given that sellers have a better chance at pulling off scams.

Activation Lock has been on available on Apple devices since iOS 7, and more recently watchOS 2, meaning that many people buying a used Watch or iOS device run the risk of getting non-functional hardware.

Cities like New York City and San Francisco have regularly had to cope with robbers snatching devices off of unsuspecting victims.

In rarer cases Apple stores themselves have become targets, assaulted in smash-and-grab raids made possible by the company’s preference for glass facades.
